Lieutenant Rolf Taggart is Aavak's prologue character. He was the comms officer on board the HMS Intrepid.
When the ship was attacked he was stationed on the bridge, operating the comms systems. When the bridge was hit, he was torn from his chair into vacume of space along with Captain Black and the unconsious Dr. Garrack. Durring this sudden and unwanted trip to the exterior of the ship he decided to try and moke the most of it and attempt to "Ride him like a surfboard." (refuring to Dr. Garrack) and failed misserably by getting tangled with with his rapidly decompressing body.
